Omasombo Katuka, a longtime Cultivating Community New American Sustainable Agriculture Project farmer, and his family are buying their own farm! This is a dream come true: Help the new OK Community Farm become a reality!

After years of leasing small plots and searching for farmland, OK Community Farm is purchasing a parcel of land in Wales, ME, only 20 minutes from where they live. Now they need all of our support to turn the former hayfield into a thriving vegetable farm, dig a well, purchase farm equipment, and pay off the short-term loan needed to purchase the land. OK Community Farm (OKCF) was established as an LLC in 2023 in Lewiston, Maine. A small-scale vegetable farm, OKCF is owned and operated by Omasombo Katuka and Poya Ndjadi, in collaboration with their family members, friends, and a broad community of supporters.

Maine’s food system is stronger with OKFC in it! They are producing the highest quality fresh West and Central African crops and are ready to grow their business.

Arriving in the United States in 2010, Omasombo and Poya found their way to Lewiston in 2012 where he Cultivating Community’s New American Sustainable Agriculture Project. Since completing our farmer training program, Omasombo has his family have been leaders in adapting culturally important African crops to Maine’s climate and have built a vibrant vegetable enterprise. However, the lack of permanent land to farm has hindered OKFC’s further expansion to meet the growing demand for their crops and the building of generational wealth.

Please consider donating to help build the new OKFC! All donations will go directly to OKFC.
