Dear Community Members and Supporters of the Good Food Council of Lewiston-Auburn:
The Good Food Council of Lewiston/Auburn (GFCLA) announces that our Coordinator, Julia Harper, will be leaving her position on April 25. Julia has been an invaluable member of our team for the past nine years, leading our efforts to promote a healthy, sustainable and equitable food system in our communities.
Julia has been instrumental in developing and implementing our strategic plan, building partnerships with local stakeholders, securing grants and funding, and overseeing our programs and projects. Her passion for promoting local, sustainable food systems has been contagious, and we are inspired by her unwavering commitment. We are grateful for her dedication, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
One of the crowning achievements with Julia’s collaborative leadership has been the successful implementation of the Local Foods Local Places Action Plan for Lewiston-Auburn. Julia has been instrumental in working with many diverse individuals, organizations, businesses, municipal leaders, and funders locally and statewide to co-create long-term resilient and equitable food system solutions.
While we bid a fond farewell to Julia, we are preparing to embark on the next chapter for the Good Food Council of Lewiston-Auburn. Our commitment to promoting sustainable, equitable, and resilient food systems remains steadfast. Looking ahead, we envision a future where our council continues to be a catalyst of advocacy, collaboration, and positive food systems change. The GFCLA Board has begun a search process for a full-time Director. It is our priority to find a dynamic, highly relational organizational leader with a true passion for GFCLA’s mission. The Director position description and application process is available here: goodfood4la.org/director-job-posting
Over the next 2-3 years, we are eager to expand our outreach and impact by:
- Diversifying Local Partnerships: Strengthening collaborations with local farmers, businesses, and community organizations to create a more robust network that supports our shared goals.
- Policy Advocacy: Continuing to advocate for policies that promote food justice, environmental sustainability, and community well-being.
We express our deepest gratitude to Julia for her contributions and wish her success in her future endeavors. We are confident that the foundation she has laid will continue to propel us forward.
Thank you all for your continued support, and we look forward to working together as we strive for a healthier, more sustainable food future for Lewiston-Auburn.
